The victory of the October Revolution in Russia, as well as the end of the First World War, put on the order of the day for the countries of Western Europe, and first of all England and Germany, the issue of normalization of diplomatic and economic relations with the government headed by V.I. Lenin and the Bolshevik Party. Post-war Europe was in dire need of restoring, first of all, economic ties ravaged by the war. Soviet Russia needed international recognition. The first postwar step towards mutual understanding was the Genoa Conference convened in April 1922. And although there was no complete settlement of all the problems of post-war Europe, it was possible to establish Soviet-German relations by signing an agreement on normalization of relations between the RSFSR and Germany on April 16, 1922. Diplomatic relations were established between the countries, an agreement was reached on the comprehensive development of economic ties.ru_RU
