The paper focuses on the issues of establishing semantic content of syntactic structures in the English and Russian languages for the tasks of machine translation and knowledge management. The problem of establishing transferable language phrase structures is considered. The approach employed is based on generalized cognitive entities manifested in the categorial systems of a subset of natural languages (English and Russian in our case) and functional roles of language units in a sentence. A declarative module of syntactical processor was designed and implemented within the framework of machine translation system “Cognitive Translator” and a number of intelligent knowledge-based systems.ru_RU
