dc.description.abstractThis paper is devoted to the key issues associated with handling of the content of very large databases of natively digital medical images. A particular attention is drawn to the problem of examining image content in order to generate new knowledge, which is lately referred to as the image mining problem. Other important questions discussed in the paper are the content-based medical image retrieval and image analytics that are aimed at automation of recent patient diagnosis and treatment technologies. It is also argued that in many occasions such tasks of big medical image data analysis can be solved using co-occurrence image descriptors of different sortsru_RU
