Abstract

The article reveals the essence of opposition as a social phenomenon inherent in the nature of human society; shows the role of opposition as a consolidating political institution that at the same time expresses protest activity of the population; provides a classification of types (kinds) of opposition, its means, forms and methods used in the relations between opposition and authorities. Basing on the materials of the article the authors conclude that only in countries with a democratic political system opposition has its own legally fixed status of rights and opportunities of influence upon the authorities.
